EPA putting the brakes on coal
Almost two years ago, Barack Obama told the editors of the San Francisco Chronicle that anyone who wanted to open a new coal-burning electrical plant would get "bankrupted" by his policies. They may not even get the coal to burn, thanks to the EPA. The Washington Times’ Amanda Carpenter reports that the agency has held up scores of surface mining permits in an action that will get the attention of coal-producing states = and their Senators:
Tea Party Patriots Vow Protests of Obama
The grassroots conservative organization has held rallies at previous Obama events to promote its low-tax, small-government agenda. But now it will do so every time the president speaks, according to Everett Wilkinson, a national Tea Party spokesman.
News Flash: Obama Sucks At His Job
The failed and failing Presidency of Barack Obama appears to know no bounds when it comes to showing a lack of leadership, a fundamental inability to understand the plight of the people it routinely insists it speaks for, and the problems it naively believes it has the skills, knowledge, and expertise to solve.
14 Americans killed in 2 Afghan helicopter crashes
In the first crash, a helicopter went down in the west of the country after leaving the scene of a firefight with insurgents, killing 10 Americans - seven troops and three civilians working for the government. Eleven American troops, one U.S. civilian and 14 Afghans were also injured.
In a separate incident in the south, two other U.S. choppers collided while in flight, killing four American troops and wounding two more, the military said.
Democrats suffering ‘Obama Hangover’
As he is quick to point out, President Obama is presiding over two wars, a sour economy, and an epic fight to rebuild the nation’s health care system. Now he has tacked on state and local political races. With an off-year election fast approaching, Obama is stepping up his commitment to Democratic candidates in hopes that an infusion of campaign charisma might pump up turnout. What the party is finding, though, is that the electricity of 2008 is tough to recapture. Some Democratic candidates running for local office around the country call the phenomenon the "Obama Hangover." It is proving tougher to recruit volunteers and get people to vote.
'We want you to eat it. Just eat it!'
Could this be how America feels a year into the Obama administration? We got off the hope and change bus expecting a party and instead we find ourselves at a work camp where the lecturer drones on and on force-feeding America an unending list of mandatory directives.
Gallup: Conservatives outnumber liberals 2-1
The election of Barack Obama was a political anomaly - a hiccup in an otherwise conservative body politic. The reasons are pretty obvious, beginning with a terrible GOP candidate who ran an abysmal campaign, coupled with the Republicans turning away from conservative principles while being corrupted by power in Washington.
An Open Letter To Barack Obama
Waiting for the results of the runoff election is both an excuse meant to buy time and political cover. Who is going to secure the polls? What if there is just as much fraud? Furthermore, considering your historical ties to ACORN and their umbrella groups, and our nations reluctance to crack down on fraudulent voter registrations of dead people and cartoon characters in our own country, next to Bertha Lewis and the Rathke brothers, youre the last person on Earth who should be lecturing anyone on voter fraud. The military decision is completely independent of the political decision. If you can't separate the two in that space between your ears, then, you're unfit to even lick clean the boots of the men you're leaving to their own devices in Afghanistan.
GOP officials: We won't abandon Dede
Two party officials tell POLITICO that the NRCC will continue to air TV ads propping up Scozzafava in the days leading up to the Nov. 3 contest and plans to keep up a near relentless barrage of press releases slamming Hoffman.
Newt hints at 2012 presidential bid
"Callista and I are going to think about this in February 2011. And we are going to reach out to all of our friends around the country," he said on C-SPAN's "Washington Journal" this morning. "We'll decide, if there's a requirement as citizens that we run, I suspect we probably will. And if there's not a requirement, if other people have filled the vacuum, I suspect we won't."
Obama declares swine flu a national emergency
Barack Obama declared the swine flu outbreak a national emergency and empowered his health secretary to suspend federal requirements and speed treatment for thousands of infected people.
Towns issues subpoenas for Countrywide
Two days ago, Rep. Edolphus Towns (D-NY) changed the locks on the House Oversight Committee room’s door to keep Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA) from demanding that Towns authorize subpoenas to investigate Congressional ties to Countrywide Mortgage’s Friends of Angelo program. Today, Towns has retreated after his publicity stunt backfired. Politico reports that Towns has unexpectedly authorized wide-ranging subpoenas for information possibly linked to lawmakers who got sweetheart deals from Countrywide CEO Angelo Mozilo:
Democrats Vote To Give ACORN Regulatory Authority Over Financial Institutions
During consideration of H.R. 3126, legislation to establish a Consumer Financial Protection Agency (CFPA), Democrats on the House Financial Services Committee voted to pass an amendment offered by Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) that will make ACORN eligible to play a role in setting regulations for financial institutions.
NYT: Obama whined about Fox News at off-the-record briefing with lefty pundits
Mr. Clemente suggested that the fight with Fox was part of a larger White House strategy to marginalize critics. He cited a report in Politico about a strategy session in August at which officials discussed plans to move more aggressively against opponents.
Big day for Hoffman after Palin endorsement: $116K
Just how effective has Sarah Palin’s intervention in the NY23 special election been? Douglas Hoffman, the Conservative Party candidate that got Palin’s endorsement, raised $116,000 in a single day, according to a source within the campaign. If nothing else, this confirms the power that Palin has with the conservative base. She can raise money hand over fist...
Sarah Palin Strikes Back
The Republican Party has a choice. They can continue to antagonize those who vote them into office or they can start paying attention. They mistakenly buy the D.C. bubble philosophy that moderation is the way to find good candidates. What they’re seeing is a base willing to lose if the Republican Party doesn’t change its ways.
Insider reveals secrets of North America plot
NEW YORK The integration of the United States with Canada and Mexico, long deemed by many as little more than a fanciful "conspiracy theory," was actually an idea promoted by the Council on Foreign Relations and sold to President Bush as a means of increasing commerce and business interests throughout North America, according to a top Canadian businessman.
Hating Whitey Makes Unexpected Comeback - American Thinker
When every utterance of disagreement with a president is framed as bigotry and racism, then the old black separatists' call to hate whitey has made a sure comeback and there isn't a thing Christian about it. In fact, it would seem a very Jeremiah Wright inspired phenomenon. Lest we forget, Jeremiah Wright bestowed the lifetime service award from his church on Louis Farrakhan. Barack Obama seems to have soaked up a whole lot more from Wright and Farrakhan than he let on during the campaign. If the President is not stoking the resurgence of racial hatred, he certainly has done nothing substantial to stop it either.
Soros calls Wall St profits ‘gifts’ from state
Soros, who joins a transatlantic chorus calling for limits on risk, leverage and compensation at big banks, said proprietary traders belong at hedge funds, not at banks, and that the compensation at Wall Street companies should be limited to prevent excessive risk.
Obama offers millions in Muslim technology fund
The White House Friday highlighted a new multi-million-dollar technology fund for Muslim nations, following a pledge made by President Barack Obama in his landmark speech to the Islamic world.
The White House said the US Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC) had issued a call for proposals for the fund, which will provide financing of between 25 and 150 million dollars for selected projects and funds.
All the Trains Run Through Obama
This week Obama began throwing around his weight around more than usual. In the USSR all the trains ran through Moscow in order to centralize control of the country. In the US today, Obama is pushing to make sure that all the trains run through him.
The Debt Death Sprial
America's economy faces a miserable future, according to an important government report. The media collectively have yawned, and official Washington has barely blinked. The Government Accountability Office recently issued its report to the Congress on the long-term fiscal outlook for the United States. It is a bleak picture.
UN: International Law has Absolute Authority
If United States law were as construed by the Court of Appeals to preclude habeas corpus, however, the United States would be in breach of its obligations under the Covenant. The Supreme Court listened to the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights. It incorporated her notion of international law into its decision interpreting what was required under the United States Constitution, over the legislation supported by the two elected branches of our government.
Deeds ignored advice, White House says
Top Democrats seek to shield Obama in case of election loss
Sensing that victory in the race for Virginia governor is slipping away, Democrats at the national level are laying the groundwork to blame a loss in a key swing state on a weak candidate who ran a poor campaign that failed to fully embrace President Obama until days before the election.
White House attacks worry moderate Democrats
White House effort to undermine conservative critics is generating a backlash on Capitol Hill and not just from Republicans.
