For many years I have tolerated a herniated naval and upper quadrant hernia.  Part of my strategy for the coming crisis is being as healthy as possible  and not have any issues.  I will be going into the VA medical center on the 23rd of this month to have it repaired.  About time I guess I been putting it off too long.  Had an intense episode yesterday and the DR said we fix it now.

ELAIU, My best to you in prayer. Almost didn't see this post. Let us know as soon as you are up to it how you are doing.  Hope you'll be pain free after the op.

Thanks A W, yes it will be nice if everything heals as it should.  These operations tend to be successful in varying degrees and I hope for the best.  Thanks for your prayers.

Thoughts and prayers are with you, bud. I'm sure you'll do fine.

Yeah .... I will be fine I just really don't like the idea of someone holding my life in their hands.  Sounds like a fairly simple procedure although they open up a very large area to fit the mesh in.  Thanks for the well wishes BKT.  Hoping to get started on ham license in my down time.

Meh...just tell the chicks you were attacked by a Great White shark wielding a chainsaw and you kicked its ass. No worries.  Cheesy

If you were to study for your license during your convalescence I'm sure you would burn through it in no time, AND you would cure any insomnia you might have. Two birds, one stone, life is good. Just try to learn more than you snooze.

Give a shout back here as soon as you're able after the procedure. Is this an outpatient thing or will they keep your around for a few days?

I guess they will decide after the surgery whether they keep me or not in the hospital.  Honestly I would rather come home, less germs.  I always worry about staff infection.  Lost a neighbor that had a successful operation and died of staff a couple of weeks later.  I have to worry about something it seems ..... need to go fishing.

I'm sorry to hear about the pain, but I'm happy to see you're well enough to give us an update!

Ditto. Just relax while you are there if you can.

Thanks for all thoughts and prayers gang ..... I came home Monday and have been more or less eating, sleeping, and swallowing large quantities of great pain killers.  I feel better this evening, and although I must stay on the meds for now I am definitely healing well and starting to get my strength back.  I will have a normal looking abdomen when healed, with the exception of my navel which was cut out.

It's good to have you back - and it's good you're home!

As for the navel...you can always get a tattoo to replace it. Call it your prosthetic belly-button. Cheesy

Clones have no navel. Now that could be the beginning of tall tales yet to come.  Grin
Glad you are doing better my friend. Give us a call when you're feeling up to it.
