I still boycott French products, perfumes, etc.

Mostly I boycott certain celebrities and other like losers.

For instance, I think it's disgusting that Oprah is giving Rosie O her own show. Boycott, boycott!  I think it's disgusting that Chastity Bono is going to be on DWTS (which I've never watched anyway.)

I used to love the Dixie Chicks until Nat ran her foul mouth about President Bush!  All of their CD's went to a group bonfire and I never listened to them again.

There are a few examples of my boycott list.  Do you have one?   Smiley

I don't know that I boycott too much. There are some brands - like Tyson - I don't buy from. (In Tyson's case, it's for their support of illegal aliens.) Wal-mart is almost 100% Made In China so I don't shop there unless it's for ammo.

Just because I think they suck, I don't watch anything like Oprah, The View, Rosie, television news, subscribe to print newspapers or magazines, etc. Going to movies is extremely rare because of the cost and because the audience tends to be distracting. My home system is much nicer, IMO. When Hollywood makes a good movie, they're doing what they do best. When they talk politics, they show how inept they are outside of their realm.

When we saw that France and Germany were colluding with the U.N. in Iraq's very corrupt oil-for-food program, that was really bad. But it doesn't make a lot of sense to be furious with the people of those countries that had nothing to do with the decision-making, particularly years after their leaders have been replaced. But to take wine as an example, French wine is OK, but there are plenty of New York State wines that are fantastic and I'd rather support local businesses.

Your system has experienced one or more fatal errors and must shut down at this time.

I have a long list of Boycotts all for various reasons.

Dominoes, Walmart, Pilot Gas Stations, non-American owned grocery stores, Venezuela supplied gas stations, Pepsi, and my list of Hollywood actors and entertainers is ever growing.

Amen, some good and logical thought.

hah, I had to laugh about Tyson's.  Although I didn't know they support illegals, I boycott them too because I bought some realllly bad Tyson chicken a few years back.  I still remember how bad it was, and gnarly.  The texture of the meat was completely off, like nothing I've ever bitten into.  It was stringy and tough, with no real taste.  awful - quickly on my boycott list. haha

In thinking about this subject I realized that once someone gets on the list, they don't get off of it.   Grin

[oh drats, Terry, my reply didn't post - sure it was on my end]  darn

Anyway, I was saying, yeaa, I love it when people have boycott lists!!  And I like to know why.

I read that Pepsi took the words "under God" out of the Pledge of Allegiance ... on some new can it has.  Well, that burns my butt.  I rarely drink Pepsi, but it too goes on my ever-growing boycott list.  tut tut

Dominoes has been on my list the longest because back in the mid 80's they were donating $100k to the anti-abortion movement at a time when the money was going to fund those that were bombing clinics. You can't save life when you are killing the very life you claim to be saving.

Walmart for their proliferation of chinese made products and their video taping everyone that buys weapons and ammo, then for their removing guns from their stores.

Pepsi for their support of Obama and Gay Pride parades and changing their logo to match Obamas. I was a life long Pepsi drinker up till that point.

Pilot gas stations because their parent company fired employees at one of their manufacturing facilities in Oklahoma for carrying guns in their vehicles on company property. They waited until the first day of hunting season to unconstitutionally search employees vehicles and terminate those that had their hunting rifles in them. Some of these guys had 23 yrs on the job.

The rest are self explanatory I think.

I do not buy vegetables grown outside the USA.

I do not buy Persian or handmade rugs made in the ME or Paki etc. They use slave labor. In this day and age they buy children from their parents for one price and the children are indebted for their lives or until they are no longer able to work. A Persian rug with one mistake  gets the child hot liquid poured on their hands. They are made to continue to work. Beatings and malnourishment. long hours and other abuses are usual. I do not ever need another ME made rug in my home again. Not that my house is full of them but I have one and it was a gift. It has mistakes on it and  once I learned how they are made I have taken it up and put it in storage. I also went shopping with a friend who was going to buy a huge one and I told her about them, she decided not to buy them either.

I do not but Chevron or BP gas.

I always look at the "made in" label and prefer made in the USA but I can not usually find an alternative. When I can I buy the American made item.

I boycotted Coke for over 35 years, I just started drinking it again in restaurants only if it's the only diet soda and I want a soda. I usually drink water so it's not much of an issue for me. I boycotted them because they used peace symbols in their ads and it was anti Viet Nam War. For God's sake we protected their assets in Nam. Phuckwads.

I have realized over the years I have an automatic "put back on shelf" or go without attitude that just comes naturally to me. I can't even describe all the decisions I have made over/ because of  politics in my adult life.

Since Obama and the change of the logo, I too don't deink Pepsi. It was my default those 35 years.

Wow, thanks, ladies!   That was some great information - I appreciate it.

Also, I like to add to my boycott list.   All the products and reasons you both gave put them quickly on my list as well.   That's what it's all about, spreading the word, boycott, boycott.   Smiley
