Turbulent Times…Troublesome Times
Never before have our freedoms and the Republic been under such constant attack from within. We have allowed our country and its’ control to slip into radical socialist hands. And, it was accomplished right under our nose.
Ther warning signs were there, have been for decades. There were those sounding the warning bell. But we blew them off as tin foil hat wearing conspiracy theorists. We were too sensible…too resonable to believe that such evil intentions existed within our own government and institutions. How could we have been so wrong?
Benjamin Franklin warned us. When asked if we now had a monarchy or a republic, Ben replied, “Republic! If you can keep it.”
Now the question isn’t “can we keep it?”, but “can we restore it?” Our Constitution has been amended and bastardized beyond recognition and far beyond what the founding fathers had intended. Legislation has been written so cryptically that an entire team of lawyers cannot decipher what our legislators don’t even bother to read. Thus leaving laws open to interpretation giving judges the leeway to legislate from the bench, in direct violation of the Constitution. Who’s writing these bills if our elected officials aren’t reading them and even lawyers can’t understand them?
The Obama administration and the 111th Congress have succeeded in passing some of the most massive spending-pork barrel legislation in our history, along with some of the most immoral, freedom grabbing laws ever. And they aren’t done yet.
I’m angry, angrier than I have ever been in my life. I’m watching everything I believed in, everything I worked for, and everything I raised my children/grandchildren to believe in and work for taken away by the stroke of a socialist pen.
I’m angry that our elected officials are not doing what we elected them to do, what they swore an Oath to do – uphold the Constitution!
I’m angry that our elected officials are not getting vocal, loud, and aggressive in performing the job we “hired” them to do. If they behaved in the private sector the way they do in the public sector they would be standing in the unemployment line.
Sen. Jim DeMint (R-SC) says if we are expecting our elected officials to do something to save our country from socialist tyranny we are waiting in futility. He says it is up to the American people. As much as I like Sen. DeMint and appreciate his honesty, his statements add to my anger.
What in the Sam Hell did we elect these people to do?!!!! Short of an armed rebellion, what are we suppose to do? Our elected officials are not listening to us. They have forgotten we are their employers. They are not acting as we wish them to. We, the American people, do not propose legislation, nor do we get to vote on it. So, just tell me what are we suppose to do? Vote? 2010 elections are a long way away and you can bet your sweet bippy we are going to vote. But, an awful lot of damage can be done to our Constitution, our government, our freedoms, and our election system by then. So, again I ask, what do we do?
We can attend Tea Parties, protest marches, town hall meetings, waive signs, plaster bumper stickers all over, write our elected officials till our hands fall off, but they are not listening. So what does that leave us with?
Apparently exercising our 2nd Amendment rights gets their attention. Wearing our sidearms in public creates a furor among the mainstream media and the left. Is that what it takes to get their attention? We should not have to resort to such tactics. Does this lead us to what none of us want to see, but what our founding fathers said must happen in order to save our Republic?
A lady asked Dr. Franklin Well Doctor what have we got a republic or a monarchy – “A republic,” replied the Doctor, “if you can keep it.”
Guard with jealous attention the public liberty. Suspect every one who approaches that jewel. Unfortunately, nothing will preserve it but downright force. Whenever you give up that force, you are inevitably ruined.
Patrick Henry, speech in the Virginia Ratifying Convention, June 5, 1778
“… God forbid we should ever be twenty years without such a rebellion. The people cannot be all, and always, well informed. The part which is wrong will be discontented, in proportion to the importance of the facts they misconceive. If they remain quiet under such misconceptions, it is lethargy, the forerunner of death to the public liberty…. And what country can preserve its liberties, if its rulers are not warned from time to time, that this people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to the facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants. It is its natural manure.”
Thomas Jefferson
And how does this happen? We cannot count on our military since the Pentagon has been taken over by the left along with George Soros employees. We can’t count on the Citizens Militias since they have taken on the cowardly stance of “We are a defensive unit only”. We can’t count on our republican officials since they have put the responsibility back on their constituency.
Is there one man or one woman with the power, the conviction, and the kahunas to lead us from these dark days? Without leadership rebellion becomes anarchy. Is that what we have to look forward to, tyranny or anarchy?
